Sunday Notices – 13 December

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your continued prayers and worship of our Lord Jesus during this season of Advent. Today we lit the third of our advent candles. You can rewatch this morning’s live streamed service here.

And the notices for this week are below:

Advent Daily Prayer
You can find a video to help you pray every day at https://www.youtube.com/c/movementdayuk. On Thursday at 6pm, join with others on Zoom to pray together using these details:

Carol Singing
Sadly, we do not have permission as hoped to sing Christmas Carols at Morrison’s this year. However, we still plan to sing and read the Christmas story in the heart of our communities. So we will do that:

  1. On Saturday 19 December at 11am in Bankfoot on Rathmell St next to the new community garden and
  2.  On Saturday 19 December at 12 noon in West Bowling opposite the Post Office (Gaythorne Rd).

We will sing several carols interspersed with a reading from scripture together but distanced safely following guidance as given. If you can give 20-25 minutes to bear witness to Jesus’ birth please do join us for one or both of these.

Christmas Services
Here are details of our Christmas services with opportunities for all ages to join in online or in person:
Christmas eve 11.30 pm – Midnight Mass at St Matthew’s
Christmas Day 11.00 am – Family celebration at St Stephen’s.
Please note if you want to come to any of the services in person, you need to email or phone Jimmy to book, as spaces are limited to allow for social distancing. Please book as soon as you know you want to come, as it’ll be first come first served, and let us know if plans change so others can have your space.

This week’s prayer:

God for whom we watch and wait,
you sent John the Baptist to prepare the way of your Son:
give us courage to speak the truth,
to hunger for justice,
and to suffer for the cause of right,
with Jesus Christ our Lord.

Praying you have a hope-filled, joy-filled, love filled week,
Jimmy
